Supreme Court Denies Fouth Amendment Protection of Welfare Reciplicantshttp://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/28/opinion/28wed2.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/28/opinion/28wed2.html This ruling allows the corporate welfare state to treat dependants like subjects. How can the poor in this country get ahead, when if they are able to accumilate capital, the government cuts off there benefits? I feel, as a libertarian socialist, that the state should stay out off providing for it's residents in the first place. If however they do decide to concern themselves with the social welfare of there citizens, which is there right under the U.S. constitution (as all powers not delegated to the federal government, or prohibited under state law, are given the states), it should consist of subsidees given to private and or faith based organizations. For if buisnesses may receive corporate welfare, why then can't charities receive social welfare?

Muslim Girls Join Girl Scouts.http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/28/us/28girlscout.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/28/us/28girlscout.html I am pleased that these young ladies are involved in the Girl Scouts of America. There they will learn to have a respect for our democratic principles, while still maintaining reverence for there faith, just as there christian counterparts do. This should help them to become more readily integrated into our culture, and also reassure suspicious people that they are good citizens. On a related note, it mentioned in the article that pre-pubescent girls are made to wear hijab. This I feel to be an unnecessary subjugation to the patriarchial rule of the elders of there ethno-religious community. However the Girl Scouts are not like the Young Pioneers, which exists in countries ruled by a Communist party. Therefore they should be allowed to set there own standards regarding uniforms.

Burger King is a Cheepskate.http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/29/opinion/29schlosser.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/29/opinion/29schlosser.html The produce industry is unjustly exploiting migrant labor, by taking advantage of there foreign status. Thereby exempting themselves from U.S. labor laws. This then creates an underclass of unskilled, underemployed, wage slaves. And it also undercuts the competitive wages of the American workforce. The proletariat, both foreign and domestic, are being regarded as being like livestock, and being treated with even more neglect. There must therefore be, at the very least for now, more equitable labor standards. In the long term I'd like to see, as a libertarian socialist, buisness co-operatively run by the the workers themselves. Until that blessed day arrives however, government must regulate buisnesses, under the commerce clause of our Constitution.

Virginia Republican Party requires loyalty oath, to vote in Presidential primary

http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/story.asp?S=7411021&nav=S6aK This is an unfair demand, as one might be opposed in principle to particular stances, which the nominee may take. If Guiliani gets the nomination, I know that I definately won't be voting Republican.

House passes "anti-radical" billhttp://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-1955

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c110:1:./temp/~c110CbDMQs::As I understand it, this bill would ban not only terroristic behaviour, but "radical" ideology as well. Of course it would be the government that would be deciding just what beliefs are a threat to the public order. Could our views be criminalised? Here is a post from another web group I belong to. .R. 1955: Violent "The language in this piece of legislation is very vague and ambiguous. It can be twisted in a way that could label grass roots organizations as terrorists groups for peacefully protesting. As a Catholic distributist, this is concerning. What if I want to protest outside an abortion clinic? Or what if some neocon says groups such as ours are "radicals" and "extremists" ? You know how much the corporate media hates people like us.Already the neocon shills in the media are labeling grassroots movements against the current administration' s failing policies as terrorists that the military should go after!Just the other day I saw Glenn Beck (an obvious neocon shill) say people who support Presidential candidate Congressman and Doctor Ron Paul are terrorists that the government should track down and imprison!Personally, I'm voting for Libertarian leaning Ron Paul, even though I'm a distributist. But I'm voting for him because I want to prevent the US government from getting worse by choosing the candidate that is going to undo the restriction of rights that Bush's administration imposed. This bill already passed in the House 400 to 6!Its headed to the Senate, we need to spread the word to stop this bill."

Supreme Court to rule on the legality of handgun ownership in Washington D.C. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/21/us/21scotus.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/21/us/21scotus.html The militia, as the founders originaly intended, consists of all law abiding, ablebodied men. However the states to have the right to regulate firearms, by requiring liscencing, and or registration of guns. Regulation, but not prohibition, of the right to bear arms is to be the constitutional standard.

Germany takes Naziesque stance towards homeschoolershttp://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58751

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58751 This is an outrageously authoritarian policy, reminescent of the Third Reich. Are children primarily the responsibility of the father/mother or the Fatherland. As long as they are learning all of the core subjects, and not being taught anti-social beliefs, like neo-nazism. Children should be allowed to learn however, and wherever they so choose. It's the proper role of parental authority to bring up children, not governmental. It seems to me therefore that Germany has a naziesque mindset that german children, as members of the nation, are the possession of the "volksstadt" (people's state). So I feel that, unless the beforementioned children are being in some way abused, the state should respect there familial sovereignty.

Women's Bridge Team is censored.http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/15/opinion/15thu4.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/15/opinion/15thu4.html By punishing these ladies for there political statement, the U.S.A. is behaving more like the U.S.S.R. was said to be. This reflects poorly upon America's claim to be a free and democratic country.

Prisoner gos on hunger strike, over lack of adequate nutritionhttp://supporteric.org/updates.htm

http://supporteric.org/updates.htm A political prisoner is being denied the specific food that he needs as both a vegan, and someone with a health condition. All prisoners deserve to have both there medical as well as spiritual needs met, while in state custody. I do not know if he did what the federal government has charged him with, and I personally doubt it from what I've read, but all prisoners need basic civil rights regardless.

School security abuse power, and use brutalityhttp://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/september2007/290907Secuity.htm

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/september2007/290907Secuity.htm Police, private or public, should not be allowed to push people around. They are to be there to protect people from harm, not to bully people who they run afoul of. The government is supposed to be of the people, not above it. There desparately needs to be more accountability over security forces.

Conservative Talk Radio's hypocrisyhttp://www.amconmag.com/2004_02_02/article3.html

http://www.amconmag.com/2004_02_02/article3.html In light of the debate over possibly re-implementing the fairness doctrinehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_doctrine, I decided to post this article. I feel that it is quite ironic how conservatives complain about how the fairness doctrine would be censorship, when they themselves are intolerant of opposing viewpoints. Even opinions from Right-wing opponants. As long as a host is able to gain advertisers to sponsor his/her show, I feel that the station should give access to its airwaves. This should serve to give the public fair and accurate information about current events. Until this occurs however, you all will just have to rely on bloggers like myself I guess. ;)

Rising demand for Oil limits supplyhttp://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/09/business/worldbusiness/09oil.html

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/09/business/worldbusiness/09oil.html The problem in my opinion is a lack of conservation. During World War II commodities like oil was rationed. Yet here we are involved in a war overseas in Iraq, and or Afganistan, and I've observed neighbors using there all terrain vehicles to go even short distances. It would be far better for not only the national economy, but there personal fitness, if they were to travel by foot instead.

Greek Students occupy schools, in protest of conditions.http://socialistworld.net/eng/2006/06/27greece.html

http://socialistworld.net/eng/2006/06/27greece.html I personally feel that people should form study groups and educate themselves. One movement which seeks to accomplish this is the "unschooling movement". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unschooling This I feel would create a more natural, and inexpensive, learning enviroment. Learning is a necessary part of life, which should never stop.

U.K. Stop the War Coalition censors critical groups

http://www.etehadchap.org/press-release.html The theocratic regime in Iran is just as much a threat to the freedom and or peace of the world, as is the neo-conservative government of the United States of America. We should instead be supportive of the "Third Camp" against both islamic terrorism and western militarism. http://www.thirdcamp.com/indexe.php
